Clayton County sheriff’s deputies and other department personnel joined Brent Ostrander the day he was sworn in as sheriff. Ostrander joined the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office in 2006 and was serving as a criminal investigator and sergeant when he was elected to a four-year term this fall.

Every second Saturday, patrons can “Uke It Out” at the Elkader Public Library. It’s one of several new offerings spearheaded by director Alexandra Bomhoff.
Playing off the paranormal investigations in McGregor, the McGregor-Marquette Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 marketing efforts incorporated ghosts who encouraged people to “get spooky” and support the Ports of Discovery communities of Marquette and McGregor.

Debra J. Blair, 62, of Elkader, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, surrounded by family at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. A beloved wife, mother and community member, she will be remembered as a beacon of joy and kindness.
